Rani Indian Restaurant

RANI, 2 Queen St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3UG
What We Offer:

An authentic eatery located on the scenic Quayside serving quintessential North Indian food. Our relaxing, light airy atmosphere is what you’ve been waiting for. I was recruited as a Commie 1 Chef in Guestline Hotel, Mumbai for 3 years and we cooked food for Bollywood film stars; Amitabh Bachan, Sunny Deol and Madhuri Dixit. This was my first time experience serving Bollywood stars! I then went to Dubai, UAE and worked as a ‘Head Chef – Indian Curries and Tandoori Kebabs’ for 3 years at Mehak Indian Restaurant. I learnt a lot about Kebabs and Curries in Dubai in my time there.

Really good Indian restaurant we came across by chance. Very friendly staff, if a little hurried. Had set meal for two and the sizzling starter was fabulous and very generous. Bobby was a great host and charming. Nice atmosphere and decor. Loos were very nice, too. I would highly recommend!

Had a Just Eat delivery from here tonight, arrived on time, piping hot and well packaged! The starter was absolutly delicious.. i knew by the aroma coming from its bag it was gonna be a tasty one!!! I got the Rani Tandoori Chicken Half.. very soft and tender and beautifuly spiced with the arome of the tandoor, absolutly delicious, would recomend!!! I also got a Garlic Nan which was lovely and i got something different from the norm.. King Prawn Ginger and Lime! At first i wasnt sure but once i got going with the Garlic Nan i soon changed my mind, it was lovely! Maybe not too everyones taste tho as there is big pieces of ginger and some cut lime in there, a nearly fruity dish with some good spice, from the ginger im assuming with loads of prawns in it too, if you love ginger and lime… go for it!!! 😁👌👍

Took up on the 5-7pm dinning offer on a Tuesday; 2 course meal for 13.99. Would’ve went for 3 but the I was full by the end of it. This offer has a different menu to the normal menu. Starters: Chicken chaat and spicy chicken wings. Mains: Lamb madras and chicken madras. Chicken chaat was unusual but good nonetheless. Chicken wings came in 3 portions and were tiny.

Lovely experience:) didn’t got a table booked just came in ordered curry & naan the iconic Indian things and they were great! Got a roughly 15% discount and 2 free drinks which was the strongest stuffs ever had in my life with herbs taste

Excellent Indian cuisine and superb service. We were almost immediately seated upon arrival on an extremely busy Friday night, having made reservations, and promptly asked if we’d like drinks while looking through the menu. I ordered Lamb Shank Rogan Josh while my wife got a shrimp curry dish. Both were exceptional. Highly recommend Simla, celebrating their 40th year anniversary that night. Reservations also highly recommended

We have dined in the Simla restaurant Newcastle tonight for our 15th year anniversary celebration and must say the food was amazing along with ambience and 5* service.. First time of dining here but would fully recommend a visit!

Ury Supasatra Restaurant

27 Queen St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3UG
What We Offer:

The “Ury” was one such relic that served the bygone. It is fairly a simple rig that is used to preserve cuisines for longer periods. These “ury”‘s were usually kept at certain height from the ground with the help of coir ropes attached to the roofs. The “Ury”‘s were usually used to store clay pots and other earthen ware and was very common among the keralite household. This simple yet indispensable “Ury” made sure that the food was kept hygienic without loosing any of its flavour but had a side-effect of bringing back old yet touching memories.

SPECIALITY:

Kerala banquet, kerala fish, chicken chatty biryani, chicken pakora, cheena chatty meen curry, idivettu lamb,

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend who travels to Newcastle regularly on business. We booked a table, using the online service, for this evening at 7.30. The online booking was simple and very effective. We were welcomed by a lovely lady and soon we were enjoying the surroundings with a beer and a wine. The food was absolutely superb and the service of the highest order. Without a doubt the Ury rates in the top few of any of the restaurants I have ever visited. I will definitely eat here again when next we travel down to Newcastle from our home in the far north of Scotland. Five star surroundings, five star food and five star service. I would recommend the Ury without hesitation. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Genuinely surprised at how good the curry and starters were here, really really good. The pakora and ‘donuts’ were delicious. The lamb curry I had was perfect spice and the flavour was spot on. Great atmosphere with a bit of incense burning.
