The French Quarter
Arch 6 Westgate Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1SA
What We Offer:
Founders Cédric & Catherine Boc-Ho opened The French Quarter in 2017 with the aim to take the fuss out of French dining, whilst offering an alternative to the chain dominated high streets. Originally from the Loire Valley in France, Cédric’s curiosity about wine began as a young boy, when games of hide & seek turned into long afternoons spent crouched between bottles of Chateauneuf du Pape in his grandfather’s wine cellar. Cédric explored this curiousity throughout his 12 years working in hospitality and whilst studying to obtain his MBA in hospitality management & WSET awards in wines & spirits.

Great range of brilliant food, loved the fig with goats cheese in particular. Staff were excellent, had to book a bit in advance so make sure you can get in. Will be back!
We loved every minute of our time here. They serve fantastic food and have a great atmosphere. The waiter was very attentive and kind. They do wine tasting here which was really good. After talking to our waiter we discovered thier lunch menu changes weekly so no doubt, we be coming again!
Best French food we have had in a long time. As we are visiting Newcastle, thought to have something different – the place is cosy, staff were friendly, and the food and wine were exquisite. We did ordered on the excessive side and enjoyed a good bottle of wine. But would still say it a good value for money. Looking forward returning again!

Absolutely fabulous place, can not fault it. Me and my partner went here and were seated straight away no problem. Service was impeccable from the moment of walking in to the moment of leaving. Great pricing too, got two courses for £14.95 each. Great with allergens, one of us has a gluten intolerance and the other a peanut allergy, but they made sure we knew everything and even showed us a full allergen guide. Will definitely be returning within the next month.
Beautiful in every way. A nice break from the usual Newcastle options. Elegant and affordable. Clean. Great service. Many Gluten free options. Non alcoholic drinks are amazing. Alcoholic drinks are super. Kind and beautiful people.
Called in on the off chance late in the evening after our original dinning plans collapsed. A warm friendly welcome from staff that proved to be very pleasant and friendly throughout our meal. Very impressed with the food. Crab starter and French onion soup were really nice. The beef cheek bourguignon was very good and the fish parmentier excellent. An excellent meal rounded off by a couple of espresso martini crepes. I was heavy handed pouring the sauce, but so what, it’s chocolate. Wonderful. All in all a tasty dining experience.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Wowcher .excellent value exquisite standard food. Wonderful service from Ben our waiter who was .courteous polite & very efficient .Excellent food, superb staff and allow use of Tastecard which is a nice bonus.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Chez. The food was entirely enjoyable, the service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere pleasant amidst a boutique styled restaurant.
I asked a lot of Chez Mal. A personalized food order and interraction from the staff to celebrate a milestone birthday. Not only were all three courses splendid but the staff, led by Chef Mariusz, made sure that Angela’s birthday meal was an evening to remember for years to come. My expectations were high but were exceeded due to the efforts of the entire team inside the restaurant. My sincere thanks
