We were welcomed by friendly Kim at the public car park and got reassured that she had never had any problems with guests’ cars parked there. We got the ground floor room with ensuite and the shared kitchen was just opposite our room. Kim suggested some restaurants and takeaways and made us feel free to use the kitchen as well. The bed was comfortable, the shower powerful and the kitchen handy for making breakfast. And for a match weekend, the price was very sharp compared to budget hotels elsewhere in Newcastle/Gateshead. St. James Park is about 12min drive from here
Real good value for money at the Hoppers Cottage. Location good. Car park close by. Choice of places to eat nearby, Italian, Indian, Pizza, Chinese, traditional Fish & Chips all real close. Lidl supermarket across the road as well as petrol station.
This was a great find for me. I had a long stay and the kitchen and refrigerator made it feel a little more like home. There was a grocery store within a two minute walk, and several restaurants when I didn’t feel like cooking. The owner was very friendly and always made sure that everything was in order. You will not find better accommodations in this area. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay.

This elegant guesthouse in a Georgian mansion, set on acres of gardened grounds, is 6 miles from the Theatre Royal and the Sage Gateshead, and 10 miles from the Beamish Museum. Hedgefield House offers guest accommodation in a unique setting with friendly, personal, caring service. The house has a colourful history, prior to being used as guest accommodation. Hedgefield House dates back to 1804, with documented evidence that it was the first home in Britain to have a telephone installed and connected to an underground site. In 1877, the inventor of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell, made the first experimental telephone call to the local coal mine. Guests have access to free wi-fi, which is provided throughout the building.There is ample on-site parking.

Super nice rooms with great beds. Only drawback was that the toilet were located in the hallway, not the room.

A beautiful house ,with lovely comfortable rooms that are decorated with an ecclectic style that compliments the rooms really well. Owner David a very host and made you feel very relaxed like it was your own home ( I wish!) Gardens around hotel fabulous well kept with a lovely show of spring flowers.

We’ve had an absolutely fantastic 3 night stay here at Hedgefield House in a four poster room which is so large, clean and beautifully decorated. Our host was absolutely great and is very friendly and helpful. Staff left us a beautiful gift of truffles for our wedding anniversary too! thank you so much for everything – your thoughtfulness has been absolutely incredible, Hedgefield House – we will 100% be back.

What We Offer:

Off the A696 road, in a 19th-century stone house, this relaxed bed-and-breakfast is 2.4 miles from Newcastle Airport and 7.1 miles from the Discovery Museum (covering science and local history). Our largest room that has a Double and a set of bunk beds Ideal for Families and multiple occupancy. Ensuite has large shower enclosure, bar shower connected to combi boiler so plenty of hot water, toilet and basin. The 5 unfussy rooms come with private or en suite bathrooms, and have TVs, free WiFi, and tea and coffee making equipment. Some have garden views, desks and/or DVD players. Complimentary cooked breakfast is served in a conservatory dining room. Other amenities include a patio and a garden.

Stayed for one night with the family as we were flying out very early in the morning. Left our car for the week for a small fee. Staff were very nice as were the rooms. Location to the airport is fantastic
Walking was problematic at the roundabout where no pedestrian crossings in place. Also a bad section of tarmac had me lifting my case rather than dragging it for fear of damage to wheels.
Didn’t visit the actual Guesthouse, but used the car park whilst away on holiday. For around £35 for 7 days, the car park was great value and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of it. All available on JustPark.
