What We Offer:

welcome at Backworth Golf Club as we are known as one of the friendliest courses in the County. Although we only have 10 holes, most are extremely challenging with small greens and tight entrances protected by bunkers and water and some of the best County players have cut their teeth at Backworth over the years Visitors can play 18 holes or, which is becoming more popular in an increasingly hectic life, 9 or 10 holes to which we are superbly suitable. When you have finished your round why not come into the Hall and enjoy some food or have a drink

Player a round here in October around 4pm. Lovely little course, well looked after and challenging in places. The bar is welcoming and the outdoor seating lovely. Definitely will be back soon.
Nice 9/10 hole course, decent test. Greens had been over sanded so not in the best condition. Still an enjoyable round.
Always get good efficient service from Vicki when booking. Course is better looked after than some other courses in the area. Not a fan of the undulating fairways but the good service and availability make it very suitable for some who often books at short notice.

Ryton Golf Club

Clara Vale, Ryton NE40 3TD, United Kingdom
What We Offer:

Ryton Golf Club, founded in 1891, is located in the picturesque and historic heart of the Tyne Valley approximately 10 miles from the centre of Newcastle. A superb eighteen hole layout, the course is bordered by the River Tyne.  It provides a good test for Golfers of all ages and handicaps.  Players should not be deceived by the comparatively short length of just over 6,000 yards, as accuracy is required with many tee shots and approaches to greens. The course is complemented by a fine stone-built Clubhouse with Bar and Restaurant facilities and our excellent Function Room is available for hire.

A tricky first few holes with out of bounds all down the right. Birdies are get-able from there on out playing into very receptive greens. Well worth the 20 min ish drive from Newcastle. Will be coming again soon.
Super golf course, nice clubhouse and welcoming members.
A true hidden gem of a golf club, fantastic course condition – some of the best greens around.

Just finished a 2 night and 3 games of golf at close house. 4 golfers back for the 4/5 time and we can’t praise all the staff enough. Remembered our name and faces from the reception to the members bag drop.
I was given a birthday gift certificate to attend close house filly course, which I was excited about due to its prestigious reputation. I arrived on the 1st of October and everything couldn’t have been better! It’s a beautiful facility with amazing staff. But after tee off, most of the greens were littered with pitch marks (average of 4-6 on each) which I spent most of my time repairing as the round went on.
Loved both courses, stunning set up and scenery, the view off the 13th tee especially. Both courses are tough challenges of golf, but especially the Colt. (Be warned there are some pretty steep slogs that will drain any tired batteries). If you are staying over I am sure you’ll be impressed with the accommodation.
